If you are with and ISP that limits bandwidth usage at certain times of day, this would be useful. The three options below the connections options should be enabled. This will obviously help torrent health and speeds. In my readings at their forum, it appears that there recently has been some work on this and it may be included in the future.nombconhighjahy.ga/citas-online-dni.php
Optimizing the Transmission Bittorrent Client for Speed
However, it is not one of their priorities. The "Prevent known bad peers from connecting" option utilizes a blocklist of known anti-P2P IPs, to prevent them from connecting and possibly interfering with transfers. I do not have information on setting up the list as of yet. Transmission does not have the "Max Active Torrents" setting.

I would suggest using the Max simultaneous downloads figure from the calculator for both of these Queue settings. The general rule here is to choose torrents that have a high seed to peer ratio. Peers also upload to other peers, but are also looking for other peers to upload to themselves and their download capacity is almost always higher than their upload capacity. This applies even though one swarm has significantly more active users than another. For more information see Good Torrents. Why Are My Speeds So Slow?
Also, if one site I get torrents from pretty much maxes out my speed with a lot fewer peers and then another site is painfully slow that has peers in the thousands will optimizing help? On the site that has a few peers everyone uploads to me. Does this mean that the site just doesn't have any good seeders? I use Linux, what kind of screen shots do you need? Just one for each of the preference screens? Both sites are private, I used to get great speeds from deamonoid but they went away. Site 1 is where I get horrible speeds but Site 2 gives me great speeds.
Also Linux torrents give me great speeds. I'm guessing Site 1 just sucks?
I do use an IP filter, but it has never affected me before. So even if I can see seeds through Transmission they might not be able to share with me because of my ip blocklist? Is it just better going through a VPN? I really don't want to drop my ip filter otherwise. I'll try to get those screen captures to you soon, I'm not that good at edditing photos, I'll try to find a program that only takes a picture of a single window rather than a whole screen. Are there any updated guides? Are you running on Mac, Linux or Windows?
It is quite possible this is out of date. I do not have Linux or Mac and only put up the guide for someone who requested it using screenshots they provided. This is based upon screen shots from version 1. If you could take screen shots of your preferences screens and get them to me, I could redo the guide. As to the other question, I am not quite sure what you mean.
I realize it is just an example, so they do not need to be exact. But, I can not tell from your post what the seed to peer ratio is and that is the best determinant of speed. Are these public or private sites? Are you using any kind of blocklist like Peerblock or an IP filter? Can I meantion torrent site names here or will I get in trouble? Not really a need to mention site names, but if you want to you can send me the names through contact form here. The most common IP Filter lists used will block almost all seedboxes and there are a lot of seedboxes at private sites. When running at the private sites, try with the filter disabled.
IP Filters block ranges, so even if a small percentage of IPs are bad, a whole range is blocked. Not much to worry about at at a private site. I have yet to see a private site without good speed, except for when I tested an IP Filter at a smaller site and got no speed as the only active were seedboxes. The difference may be on Linux, I believe these are from a Mac.
Yes screen shots of the preferences pages sorry I can not be sure which ones would be needed. Also, the main page and some info on accessing the preferences not for you, but for others. That would be great. Let me know when you have them and I will contact you through the site with my email. On the screens, check out the article here on best free screen capture utility. I am sure they have an option to capture the active window. The IP filter only kicks in when a communication is made and that is a separate function from the tracker scrape.

Some people who do not have a separate router may find that their modem serves as both and this procedure will also apply. This allows for automatic forwarding of ports, making the rest of the instructions on this page unnecessary. This will be the port number you will be forwarding in your router. Setting up a static IP Routers work by attributing a "dynamic IP" to each computer when it connects to the router. Since this IP is dynamic it can, and often does change each time.
In order to setup a static IP for your computer it is important to select one outside of this range in order to avoid it being attributed to another computer by the router. Finding out what the DHCP range can be hard work since I have no router specific instructions to direct you to the correct menu. You'll have to find it on your own you may refer to your router's manual for more information. From the DOS window that will open, copy the default gateway number to your web browser and hit enter.
Since many routers have limits on the number of IPs they can handle regardless of the number of computers connected. Reduce the DHCP range by one. Reduce the ending IP by one or reduce the number of IP by one. Make a note of the newly available IP which is outside the range ; this is what you will use for a static IP further. Exit the router configuration and follow the instructions at the Portforward Static IP Guide to setup your operating system to use a static ip.
Forwarding your port in the router The procedure for forwarding a port in the router varies with each make and model of router. Check your router's label for its manufacturer and model number and select the appropriate model at the Portforward Router Guide. Yes I found this article helpful.
