I did a lot of research and this card was my answer to finding a way to add the Evo ssd drive to my pc in a way that actually permits the SSD drive to operate full speed. AS long as your motherboard supports booting from PCI Express or has a full speed M2 Slot, you can be up and running in little to no time. Here is the quick list of all I needed to do.
Be mindful that I was expecting to have problems, boot issues, bios adjustments and possible I've bought 16 of these recently for some test servers we have here. It looks like our setup is a bit different than most. We have had one failure, but I think it was because a drive was improperly seated in its IcyDock. Works great to add a secondary drive to a Mac Mini. In my case it was a Mac Mini Late model, with the original drive being in the "Lower" position IE: Drive that's on the top when the Mini is turned up-side down to open it. The tools worked to take everything apart and get access to the bracket to install my SSD in the "Upper" position.
No problems with the rubber plugs or screws, and the flex cable was very well made. Easy install, perfect parts, no brainer! Drive worked amazing for about a year before failing after only about 18 TB written. Started accumulating un-correctable read errors rapidly Smart and causing system hangs. That being said, as with all products, there will be faulty hardware from time to time.opivemaser.ml/4839-buscar-mujeres-solteras.php
Upgrade or replace the hard drive in a Mac Mini - CNET
Thankfully this drive comes with a solid 10 year warranty. I was able to RMA the drive and received a replacement new-in-box retail drive back via express shipping in about a week after I sent out the bad drive with a pre-paid label courtesy Samsung.
My only complaint through the process is that Samsungs communication and ability to track RMA status is a bit lacking, and they don't give you a way to give them ALL the required information for an RMA request up front, instead having to resort to sending the required information back via email. It would be nice if they could more easily facilitate the RMA process Only 3 left in stock - order soon.

These faster spinning drives use more power, and generally, have smaller storage capacity, but they do provide a boost in overall performance. Hard drive installation is usually pretty straightforward, though the exact procedure for accessing the hard drive itself is different for each Mac model. The method ranges from the Mac Pro , which has four drive bays that slide in and out, no tools required; to the iMac or Mac mini , which can require extensive disassembly just to get to where the hard drive is located. Because all of the hard drives use the same SATA-based interface , the process for changing out a drive, once you gain access to it, is pretty much the same.
The SATA interface uses two connectors , one for power and the other for data. The cables are small and easily maneuvered into position to make connections. You can't make the wrong connection since each connector is of a different size and won't accept anything but the proper cable. There are also no jumpers to configure on SATA-based hard drives. This makes changing out a SATA-based hard drive a simple process.
All Macs except the Mac Pro have temperature sensors attached to the hard drive. When you change out a drive, you need to reattach the temperature sensor to the new drive. The sensor is a tiny device attached to a separate cable. You can usually peel the sensor off the old drive, and just stick it back to the case of the new one.
The exceptions are the late iMac and Mac mini, which use the hard drive's internal heat sensor. With these models, you need to replace the hard drive with one from the same manufacturer or purchase a new sensor cable to match the new drive. Having more storage space or a higher performing drive can make using your Mac much more fun, so grab a screwdriver and have at it.

Share Pin Email. Tom Nelson has written hundreds of articles, tutorials, and reviews for Other World Computing and About. This cable adds a probe to your SSD, preventing the iMac from panicking and turning on its fans at full blast whenever you turn the computer on. There are software alternatives to this cable, but consider this a small investment that will reduce your need to screw around with manual fan controls while keeping your Mac running perfectly. In all candor, I had no idea how easy or difficult the SSD swap process would be.
In my opinion, going the Time Machine route is a better idea when starting fresh with an SSD, and it costs nothing. You just turn off and unplug your iMac, swap the drives, then hold Command-R down on the keyboard when first restarting your Mac. This will let you start using your iMac right away after the drive is swapped, without waiting hours for Time Machine, and for better or worse pretty much guarantees that every one of your files and potentially plenty of cruft will be exactly where it was before.
For users with plans to swap an optical drive for an SSD, nothing needs to be done to prep software beforehand.
